Focus Football

Optimize Your Off-Season

The football off-season is unique in the way that it is much longer than most sports. If utilized properly this can be a great asset in the development of a football player. The long off-season gives adequate time for proper periodization to be executived, resulting in the potential for great gains to be made in the areas of strength, speed, quickness, balance, conditioning and explosive power.

The question is, "Are you getting the most out of your off-season?"

Our NEW Focus Football Off-Season Training Program is designed specifically to help players peak for training camp, giving them more strength, speed, quickness and power than they ever though possible.

Focus Football has been designed by football players, coaches and the provinces' top strength and conditioning team at Focus Fitness to take your game to the next level.

Our concept is simple, continual, high quality, long-term training equals amazing results. Forget the one-week camps, they simply don't make you better.

Phase 1 – General Prep

This phase builds a foundation of strength, balance, coordination, flexibility, work capacity, muscle balance and footwork patterns. The key to building a strong, fast, explosive athlete is first making sure that they have muscle balance (strength and flexibility), can move in all directions efficiently and quickly (coordination and footwork) and then be able to do that over and over (work capacity).

Phase 2 – Specific Prep

This phase we work on specific strength, agility, quickness, speed and stamina, we work more on the movements specific to football and begin more position specific drills and exercises. Phase 2 has a noticeable increase in intensity over Phase 1 along with an increase in the amount of work being done. Athletes continue to train three days per week in this phase.

Phase 3 – Pre-Season

This phase is critical to converting strength and speed into explosive power, quick reaction times and football specific energy system training. Phase 3 again has an increase in intensity as this phase focuses on speed and power, the key components to success in football. Athletes train four days per week in Phase 3.
